Chryanthemums are one of the most versatile flowers available to florists and their customers.
But some florists including some top designers, ( and those that dutifully follow their every word), seem these days to class the flower as boring and discount them as not worthy of use in their designs. They seem to have been lured into thinking the emergence of exoctic blooms now readily available on the market have made the Chrysanthemum extinct. How wrong can they be ? No other flower has the number of shapes, forms and colours that the Chrysanth has, only the Dahlia comes close. Roses, gladioli and anthurium - all varieties of these have the same shape.
It is said that if you could choose a different variety or colour of Crysanthemum every week you would not repeat a flower for two years!!! Boring ? I think not.
The chrysanth is not extinct, some people just seem to have forgotten that they have a very long vase life and are very good value for money.
New varieties are becoming available all the time and the flower remains in demand no matter what claptrap the so called modern designer talks.
Perhaps those that discount this flower are unable to appreciate its natural beauty and do not have the skills or necessary flair to incorporate it into their designs ??
